PRE-CONFERENCE

Dear CATE member,

We invite you to attend the CATE Pre-Conference at CSSE 2010 on Friday, May 28th at Concordia University in Montreal, from 13:00- 17:00 (room: TBA).

The purpose of this pre-conference is to provide an opportunity to CATE members to engage in working sessions focusing on specific themes around field experiences in Canadian teacher education programs. CATE will provide an opportunity to publish summaries, statements, or other documentation from the working sessions on its website for dissemination purposes.

Three working groups will be set up for the pre-conference according to three themes. Participants are asked to declare in advance which working group they want to work in. There will also be an opportunity for all participants to interact with the participants from other working groups.

The themes for the three working groups are built around two larger issues of field experiences: linking course and field experiences in teacher education programs, and the role of field experiences in the preparation of teachers. The three working groups are as follows:

Theme/Working Group #1:
Building Relationships with the Field and the Profession: Overcoming the Divide

Theme/Working Group #2:
Integrating Course and Field Experiences: Experiences, Challenges, and Possibilities

Theme/Working Group #3:
The Potential of Field Experiences for Preparing Teacher Candidates for Teaching as Intellectual Work

If you are interested in joining this session you must pre-register by contacting Pamela Hagen at PamelaHagen@Telus.net by March 28, 2010. Everyone is welcome and there is no cost for this session, but you must register in advance to attend.

When you register with Pamela, please identify the working group you want to be assigned to (you can identify more than one).

Chers membres de l’ACFE

Cela nous fait plaisir de vous inviter à une journée « avant colloque » pour les membres de l’ACFE cette année, le vendredi 28 mai 2010 à l’Université Concordia, Montréal, de 13 h à 17 h. Le but de l’avant colloque est de permettre des membres à participer dans des discussions sur la recherche actuelle sur l’aspect pratique et le rôle des stages en formation à l’enseignement au Canada. Nous voulons fournir l’opportunité à tous qui a un intérêt à participer dans ces discussions et contribuer au développement d’un corpus canadien en recherche en formation à l’enseignement et les futures possibilités de publication dans le domaine.

Nous organiserons cette journée de discussion et échange autour de trois groupes de travail sur les thèmes suivants :

Groupe 1
Thème : Construire les relations avec le terrain et la profession : rapprocher les divers acteurs

Groupe  2
Thème : L’intégration des cours avec le stage : les expériences, les défis et les possibilités

Groupe  3
Thème : Le potentiel du stage pour la préparation en enseignement en étant un travail intellectuel

Si vous souhaitez nous rejoindre, il faut s’inscrire à l’avance en contactant Pamela Hagen à PamelaHagen@Telus.net avant le 28 mars 2010. Tout le monde est le bienvenu et il n’y a pas de frais associé avec cet évènement, mais il faut nous contacter à l’avance si vous voulez y assister pour nous permettre de créer des groupes de travail. Vous êtes prié de choisir parmi ces trois groupes, et nous vous demanderons  d’indiquer votre choix au moment d’inscription. Par contre, il y aura des occasions pour échanges entre les groupes de travail pendant la journée.
