Over the past year I1ve been familiarizing myself with CACS, CSSE, and CCGSE (Canadian Committee of Students in Education) and passing along information to graduate student groups regarding the conference and other information. This year CCGSE has developed a website (at www.csse.ca, through the association link) which includes links to resources and information about the conference, including information about the CCGSE student events. A new initiative this year for CCGSE at the conference is a job fair: representatives from Education faculties across Canada will be available to meet with graduate students. Workshops focussing on publication and proposal writing have also been planned. Additionally, the student association pairs up student roundtable presenters with senior faculty members as discussants, for the purpose of feedback and building mentorship into the conference. Next year, in terms of graduate student involvement for CACS, I see our goals as being similar to those of CCGSE: increasing participation of graduate students, and awareness of information particularly applicable for students. As well, in conversations with a number of graduate students, there seems to be an interest in developing some sort of ongoing forum for discussions of curriculum. Perhaps this may be something to bring to CCGSE next year, for the conference, the online journal or the website?
