5. Business Arising from Minutes
5.1 Proposal for electronic journal (Luce-Kapler)
CACS Executive are in the process
of conceptualizing possibilities for an electronic curriculum journal and
would like input and guidance from the Membership. Articles in both English
and French will be included.
Ideas for focus of journal:
The journal could serve as an archive-create a CD-ROM.
Information about the journal and a request for feedback will be published in the newsletter and on the website. The Executive is at the exploratory stage and would appreciate input from members.
Electronic journals are becoming widely accepted. Papers on-line are easily accessible to anyone regardless of location. The format can be extremely flexible when on-line. An ISSN number and a clearly articulated review process are essential. Members need to make a commitment to submitting articles as well as reviewing. Reviewing is completed on line so time commitments are different than other journals. Hopefully, this will contribute to a timely review process. French submissions would be in French and not translated. The journal will attempt equitable representation of both languages. Where translation is required, the Executive will request assistance of members.
Executive was given permission, by consensus, to explore the idea of an electronic journal further. Rebecca Luce-Kapler, Denis Sumara and Brent Davis will spearhead the exploration.
